Melissa Raftis completed her law degree and graduated from Monash University in Melbourne. Melissa was subsequently admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in August 2001.
Melissa completed her article clerkship at a rural law practice in Kyabram, Victoria before being employed with Victoria Legal Aid where she worked for five years. During this time Melissa was promoted to Senior Family Lawyer at the Goulburn Regional Office, Shepparton.
Melissa's work at Legal Aid included complex children's cases, property settlements, child protection, intervention orders, court advocacy and a myriad of other issues assisting the broad clientele serviced by a Legal Aid Office.
In 2007 Melissa was approached by a large West Australian family law firm who offered her a senior family lawyer position. Melissa worked at Shann Family Lawyers from May 2007 until December 2010 where she practised exclusively in family law.
In early 2011, Melissa and her co-Director, Nicola Bowen, established Perth Family Lawyers as a dedicated, boutique family law firm undertaking all aspects of family law, including children and parenting issues, property settlement matters, de facto and same sex relationships, and divorce applications. Melissa and Nicola have established Perth Family Lawyers as a premier family law firm in Western Australia. Melissa is also a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Western Australia, the Women Lawyers of Western Australia, the National Family Law Section and the Law Society of Western Australia.
